Dr. Susan Shaw is a marine toxicologist, author, explorer, and founder/director of the Marine Environmental Research Institute (MERI). An outspoken and influential voice on ocean pollution, Shaw joined the SSWG in September 2010 and has been tasked with assessing the oil spill (Deepwater Horizon oil spill )'s impact on the Gulf of Mexico and recommend actions toward recovery.
