Julianne (Mills) Busa

Julianne H. (Mills) Busa received her PhD in Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology from The Ohio State University. Though grounded in ecological principles, her training is broadly interdisciplinary, drawing upon longtime interests (and bachelor’s degrees) in both ecology and international studies. Dr. Busa engages geography, ecology, economics and sociology in her examination of the connections between human and natural systems and is particularly interested in the interactions between socioeconomic factors and conservation practice. Her recent work examining the relationship between economic growth and biodiversity conservation has been published in the journal, Ecological Economics. Dr. Busa is presently a Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow in Environmental Science & Policy at Smith College.
