Hayo van der Werf

Hayo M G van der Werf is a research scientist at the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA) at Rennes in western France, where he leads a research group dedicated to the environmental analysis of agricultural production systems. He conducts both methodological and applied studies, using Life Cycle Assessment (Life cycle assessment of farming systems) as the main conceptual framework. Recently his work has focussed on pig production, aquaculture, fibre hemp, poultry production, and cow and goat milk production and transformation.
He is the editor of the Journal of Industrial Hemp and the author or co-author of over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Hayo holds a BSc in Agronomy from Deventer Agricultural College (The Netherlands), an MS in crop physiology from Guelph University (Canada) and a PhD in Agronomic and Environmental Sciences from the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands.
