Catherine Hinga Haustein is a professor of Chemistry and the department chair at Central College in Pella, Iowa. She received her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Iowa in 1982. She also holds an MFA in creative writing from The University of Iowa. She worked briefly as a materials chemist for Xerox Corporation before joining the faculty at Central College in 1983. Her area of expertise is analytical chemistry. She teaches courses in Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis. Her current research interests are in natural products analysis and she collaborates on research projects on endocrine mimics and pesticides in Iowa.
