>>> Welcome to the magnetic_actuators ftp area <<< Here you will find software applications that supplement the book Magnetic Actuators and Sensors by John R. Brauer, published in 2006 by Wiley IEEE Press. The programs Maxwell SV and Simplorer SV are available for free download at the Ansoft Corporation web site: www.ansoft.com The Maxwell examples (projects) are in the zip files labeled exccMn, where ccMn corresponds to the book Example cc.n, where cc is the 2-digit chapter number and n is the numbered example in that chapter. Examples are 4.2 (includes 5.2), 5.3 (includes 6.1), 5.4, 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 9.1b, 9.1c, 9.2a, 9.2b, 9.3, 10.4, 11.2, 11.3, 11.4, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4, 12.4th, 13.1a, 13.1b, 13.1c, 13.1d,and 13.2e. In total there are 31 Maxwell zip files. To install zip files, download them to your PC and extract the files into a selected directory using WinZip or other standard decompression program. The usual directory for Maxwell projects is Ansoft\Maxwell\Default. To view a Maxwell project, select it and open it in your Maxwell Projects window. The Simplorer examples (ssh files) are in the files labeled exccSn, again corresponding to Example cc.n. Examples are 15.3 and 15.6, which you may download to your PC. To run a Simplorer example, open its ssh file in your Simplorer SSC commander window. SPICE examples are in two forms. Maxwell SPICE projects are exccCn, where C stands for the third letter in SPICE. SPICE netlist files are labeled exccCn.spi. A free version of SPICE is available at http://www.aimspice.com/download.html. MATLAB example M-files are labelled exccBn. Information on obtaining MATLAB is at the web site: www.mathworks.com The current errors and corrections for the book are in the file errata.pdf. Final answers for odd-numbered problems are in the file answers.pdf. For a complete Solution Manual, contact the author at jbrauer@ieee.org.
