The specially built triple locomotives of the iron ore railroad Kiruna-Narvik are still among the most powerful locomotives in the world with their 12 axis drive system. Operated by the Sedish state railways SJ on behalf of the mining company Luossavaara-Kirunavaara AB LKAB they can drag a train of over 45 heavy ore wagons over the mountainous range at a reduced speed of around 45 km/h.
