Graz Linien

IVB Innsbruck Verkehrsbetriebe

Innsbruck Verkehrsbetriebe IVB's Düwag with a later on added middle section at the end station Igls of Line 6. The Igls-Bergisel line 6 is called "Forest tram" as it winds along high hills and green forests. Once a narrow gauge steam locomotive hauled train line, it is now operated by IVB's normal trams. These Düwags are also history by now. Dark red, totally low floor trams is what you'd expect to see on the line now. Picture at Igls station 5.1.2003 by Ilkka Siissalo.

Linz Linien AG

Linz Linien AG trams run on the rare gauge of 900 mm. Their five lines serve not only the city of LInz, but also the neighbouring three communes Leonding, Pasching and Traun. This tram is a Bombardier Cityrunner / Flexity Outlook of their second generation, taken into use 2011-12. It is 40,80 metres long, has 71 seats and can take also 156 standing passengers. Many of the modern trams of Linz are covered by ugly advertisement tapings, such as this poor Flexity Outlook no. 088 from the very last series of these nice Bombardier trams from the year 2015. It's such a shame that operators allow this kind of awful tapings, akin to graffiti.

Wiener Linien

Vienna (Wien) articulated tram 4050 in front of Westbahnhof 22 September 1995. These are history by now. They were Düwag designed German trams built by licence in Austria. Many of these trams were sold to Poland after the Austrians replaced them. Some of them can still in 2018 be seen in Krakow, Poland, with their originally dark red underparts now painted dark blue. Still in the 1970s the Wiener S-Bahn trams could be up to six coaches long trains with a motorwagon at both ends. Here is a four coach composition, one motor wagon, two trailers and again a motorwagon.

Wiener Lokalbahn

Wiener Lokalbahn articulated tram 124 in front of depot on 21 September 1995. These were also Düwag trams and they were used on the so called U-Bahn line U6 that mostly runs on bridge-like elevated structures much like a metro. In the old days these used to be steam locomotive pulled trains. In German the word Hochbahn, high up railway is used. Wiener Lokalbahn also operates a so called U-Bahn network of metro like trains. Part of the lines are electrified from a third rail and 750V (lines U1-U5) and one line with an overhead catenary and 750V DC. This train is a class U2 (the number 2 should be written as a subscript here) train of the more metro-like line also named U2. Photo 1.1.2003 by Ilkka Siissalo.
