There are 6 faculties in the Academy. They are the General Practitioner's faculty, the Pediatrics faculty, the Pharmacy facility, the faculty of further education and professional re-training of the health care specialists, the faculty of advanced learning for medical school teachers, the preliminary faculty. At present more than 5400 students including foreigners study at the Academy.
Medical, training is being carried out by 58 chairs provided with all necessary equipment, so education is given here according to all modern standards. The Yaroslavl Medical Academy trains highly qualified specialists for all Yaroslavl hospitals and for medical institutions in other regions of Russia. The academic stair comprises more than 600 people; 75 of them are doctors of Medical Sciences, professors and 320 candidates of Medical Sciences, assistant professors. Among the scholars of the Academy there are members of Russian, foreign and international Academies, State prize-winners, Honorable Science Workers, Doctors-, Art-Workers of Russia.
Together with the training process the Academy scientists carry out a lot of research in the fields of theoretical arid practical rnedicine and pharmacy: rheumatology, vascularsurgery and rnicrovascularsurgery, mother and child health care, problems of modern pharmacy etc.
Modern imformation systems are actively being developed in the Academy. In 1995 the Academy gained access to Internet information resources through Freenet, thanks to the realization of international projects and funds. The Academy has arranged teaching the "Introduction to Internet" course for its employers and students. In the Academy there is a library with two reading halls and some branch offices technically equipped for using data. bases of the State Medical Library, Medline and Internet.
The Academy participates in students', postgraduates', and teaches' exchange programs with twin cities of Yaroslavl: Kassel (Germany), Burlington (USA), Pouter (France).
The Academy social facilities includes five hostels, a sport complex, a student health care center, summer health camp on the Volga river and a nursery garden of medicinal plants.
The Yaroslavl State Medical Academy has been traditionally doing its best to support everything new and progressive in its activities, making at the same time a forceful contribution to the Russian citizens' health care.
