Toronto is a busy suburb on the western shore of
Lake Macquarie in
New South Wales,
Australia. Toronto was the site of an
Aboriginal[?] mission, established in
1829. It was named after
Toronto, Canada in honour of
Edward Hanlan[?], a world-champion sculler who moved from Canada to Australia in about
1885.
Up until the mid 1980s it had a railway station which terminated the branch line from Fassifern. It now has a bus aptly named "The Train".
