Today's New International Version

The International Bible Society is planning a revision of the translation; it will be known as Today's New International Version, and it will be sold in addition to the New International Version, not as a replacement. Among the differences in the TNIV is that it will use more gender-neutral language, referring in some places, for example, to "children of God" instead of "sons of God" and changing phrases such as "a man is justified by faith" to "a person is justified by faith." Male references to God, however, will not be modified. This is comparable to the approach to gender neutrality taken by the New Revised Standard Version[?]. The New Testament of the TNIV was published in March 2002. The entire TNIV Bible is to be available in 2005.
