The Marble Index is the title of
Nico's 1969 album. It is sometimes called the
manifestation[?] of a
nightmare in
music by fans and foes alike. The acoustic and very
minimalist album is considered Nico's most influential and avant-garde work, and is cited as a forerunner of the later
Goth music movement. Bands such as
Dead Can Dance and artists such as
Jocelyn Pook[?] were heavily influenced by Nico's music.
