Suture

Sutures are the stiches doctors, nurses and other medical professionals[?] use to hold skin, blood vessels and other tissues together after they have been severed.

Suturing is designed to help the healing of the body, by closely opposing to sides of a wound to minimize scar formation, or to seal an artery leaking blood.

Sutures have been made from many materials. In their design they should be strong so they don't break, non-toxic and hypoallergenic to avoid adverse reactions in the patient, flexible enough so they can be tied and knotted easily.
