Sather Tower

Redirected from Sather tower

Sather Tower, known as the Campanile, is a bell tower on the University of California, Berkeley campus, a well-known symbol of the university. Completed in 1914, the tower stands 307 feet tall. It is named after Jane K. Sather, along with the Sather Gate[?].

An elevator takes visitors to an observation area 200 feet up the tower, providing sweeping views of the campus, surrounding hills, San Francisco and the Golden Gate. Above the observation platform lies a sixty-one bell carillon which plays a concert three times a day. The Campanile also sounds on the hour.
