In 1989, Sata came under contract with Wooster to produce the airline's model airplanes.
In 1994, the ICAO celebrated 50 years as an organization by awarding medals to each airline they felt had done the most significant contribution to aviation in their country, and SATA International was their choice in Potugal.
Nowadays, both names of Sata Internacional and Sata Air Acores continue to be used by the company, with Air Acores being a domestic sub-division of Sata International.
