The rosefinches are birds in the finch family Fringillidae. Most are in the large genus Carpodacus, but two other finches are named as rosefinches.
Most rosefinches are so named, but four commmon North America species are not. As the name implies, various shades of red are the characteristic plumage colours of this group.
This seed-eating group has represenattives throughout the northern hemisphere, but the greatest diversity is in Asia.
