Peugeot Citroën[?]. The government of France owns 44% of the company. Renault also has a substantial stake in
Japanese automaker
Nissan. Renault manufactures small to midsize cars and light commercial vehicles.
From 1980-87, Renault held majority ownership in the American Motors Corporation (AMC), which it sold to Chrysler Corporation in May, 1987.
