The
Presidential Succession Act of
1947 fixed the succession of the presidency through the
Vice President,
Speaker of the House of Representatives,
President pro tempore of the Senate[?], and cabinet heads in order of seniority of departments.
It was modified by the Twenty-Fifth Amendment.
