Ontological commitment

On the Semantic Web, an ontological commitment is simply a commitment to / belief in an ontology.

Every Agent makes an ontological commitment whether or not it knows it does so.

It is not necessary that the agent codify or rationalize or argue the statements of the ontology in any particular form or logic.

The test of an Agent's ontological commitment is its successful action: its negotiation of a protocol and communication for action[?] with other agents.

Every commitment may be represented, from terrorist to zombie, the terrorist being the most radical commitment, and the zombie being the most normative[?].
