Max von Sydow (born
1929) is a Swedish actor who has made about a dozen films with
Ingmar Bergman. It was through these films von Sydow earned his international reputation. Sydow is probably best known for his role as a priest in
The Exorcist, though he's also starred in
The Seventh Seal and
The Greatest Story Ever Told[?], and appeared in the
James Bond movie
Never Say Never Again[?] (as the head of
S.P.E.C.T.R.E.),
Minority Report,
Flash Gordon (as Emperor Ming) and
Conan the Barbarian, though his most appreciated roles are in dramas like
Pelle the Conqueror. It could be said to be characteristic of him that he has played God, Jesus Christ, Lucifer and an exorcist. His voice is also heard internationally in many commercials and voice-overs.
