- Recycle everything you can, Recycling helps:
- Reduce the ammount of waste thrown away each year.
- Reduce the ammount of mining ,which damages the natural habitat around it, to get the natural resources
- Stops the waste being burnt in an incinerator[?] which causes pollution.
- Stops the waste from rotting in a landfill which can cause land, water and air pollution.
- Buy energy efficent products such as:
- Turn off electrical appliances[?] when you are no longer using them.
- Buy recycled.
- Re-use old bits and bobs you could:
- If your heating system[?] is 10 years old its best to get a newer energy efficent one.
- Replace old windows with energy-efficient ones.
- Insulate your house.
- Re-use your super market bags, the next time you go to the supermarket.
- Be water efficent by:
- Watering in the afternoon
- Watering the roots rather than the leaves
- Buy and use a Water butt
- Not watering the grass, if its yellow, dont'w worry it will will go green again in the winter.
- Have showers instead of baths.
- Only shower for 5 minutes, that is more than enough to keep you clean.
- Get a half flush system for your toilet,
- Make a compost heap or buy a compost bin for waste food.
