Links are important. Especially in projects like Wikipedia. They join,
reinforce individual articles and form associations.
Wikipedia links are unique that they are potential links.
When you create a link to some notion on your page it is actually linking
to some page, provided it exists, or "waits" for a page to be
created.
Without the special wiki links you would have to monitor the whole
Wikipedia project and if a relevant page appeared, would have to create
the link.
So whether you're writing about tulips, door knobs[?], nostril hair[?] or Alexander the Great - CREATE LINKS.
