Kongsberg

The town Kongsberg in the county of Buskerud, Norway, has 22,657 inhabitants as of January 1, 2002. The town was founded in 1649.

Kongsberg is particularily known for its old silver mines, from which around 1350 tons of silver has been extracted from the discovery of silver in 1623 to 1957 when the last mine was closed.
