Joshua Reiss

Joshua Scott Reiss (March 9, 1978-September 11, 2001) was an employee of Cantor Fitzgerald. Reiss was born at Pennsylvania Hospital[?], grew up in Yardley, PA[?] and graduated from Pennsbury High School[?] after attending Pennington Prep[?]. He graduated from the University of South Carolina[?] (Columbia, SC[?]) in May 1999.

His first job was when he convinced the Bucks County Courier Times[?] that he was "big" enoough to deliver papers. He was 10. He began with a route of about 18 and when he gave up the route in two years, he had over 48 subscribers on his route. He was a born salesman. He worked with his father and brother, Adam at the family business until he went to college. In Columbia, Joshua worked full time at at Longhorn Steak House as well as being a full time student with a double major.

He was killed at the age of 23 in the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack while working for Cantor Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center. He was survived by his mother and father, Judith and Gary Reiss of Yardley, PA, his brothers, Adam of Lawrenceville, NJ, Jordan at UGA, Jon, and his only sister Jennifer, and his grandparents, Lenore and Kenneth Jackson of Boca Raton, and Ida Reiss of Miami Beach, his aunt and uncle, Judge Gary and Jean Jackson of Atlanta, Ms. Barbara Reiss of NYC and his cousin Izzy of Atlanta.

Over 1500 people attended his memorial September 23, 2001. He was subsequently identified through DNA on May 18, 2002, his anniversary of his Bar Mitzvah and his parents 27th anniversary. He was buried May 22nd in Ewing Cemetery.

The Joshua Scott Reisss Memorial 9/11 Foundation has been set up to promote educational opportunities to deserving students and schools.
