Iridology is a method of diagnosing medical conditions
by examining the
irises of the
eyes.
Its practitioners believe that locations in the iris map to locations on the body
and indicate their health.
Ignatz von Peczely[?] created the field when he found an owl with an injured leg
and noticed that the owl's iris had a dark band in it.
As the leg healed, the dark band disappeared.
Iridology is largely considered pseudoscience, and is not accepted by
mainstream medicine.
Studies have shown that two or more practitioners examining the
same patient rarely produce the same disagnosis.
