Information architecture

The architecture of information is important to the process of comprehension.

In the process and context of Web design, information architecture is the organization of information to aid in information retrieval. A common example of this is the categorization of similar information into sections on a website, with those sections displayed in pages. A site might be organized into five different sections, with links to those sections at the top of the site. When a link is clicked, that section is displayed in the resulting page.
