Henry Reed

Henry Reed, British poet, translator, radio dramatist and journalist (Birmingham, February 22, 1914 - December 8, 1986).

At Birmingham University he associated with Auden, MacNeice[?] and Walter Allen[?].

Served in the armed forces as a Japanese translator. His 1970 book The Lessons of War contains his most famous poem Naming of Parts a witty parody of army basic training.
