Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr.

Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. (July 5, 1902 - February 27, 1985) was a United States Senator from Massachusetts, a U.S. ambassador, and a candidate for United States Vice President. He was the grandson of famous statesman Henry Cabot Lodge.

In 1953, he was named U.S. ambassador to the U.N. He left the position during the election of 1960 to run for vice president on the Republican ticket headed by Richard M. Nixon. The duo lost the election to Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy, who had taken over Lodge's Senate seat in 1952.
