Halva (also spelt
Halvah) is a
confection made from ground
sesame seeds and
honey, sometimes with the addition of
pistachio nuts and/or
dried fruit[?]. It was invented in the
18th century in what is now
Pakistan, but has since been widely adopted in countries around the eastern
Mediterranean.
