Haidinger's brush is a visual effect first described by Austrian
physicist
Wilhelm Karl von Haidinger[?] in 1846.
Some people are able to detect
polarized light.
It is said to be visible as a yellowish horizontal line (with "fuzzy" ends, hence
the name "brush") visible against the blue sky viewed while facing away from the sun.
Some insects and fish are sensitive to polarized light.
