I don't think it is quite fair to say Wellington will be destroyed at any momnt. On the potential of seismic activity you'd have to add California, chunks of Japan, and eastern US and western Europe to that kind of 'knife-edge'.
- Not to mention south Asia and south and central America. It's true that estimates for Wellington are usually in the form "20-25% chance in the next 50 years", or "50-99% chance in the next 100 years" not "any moment, run for your lives". Perhaps I'm getting careless with my check-in comments :-)
