Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an eye disease that is characterized by increased pressure in the eyeball. Most commonly it results from an obstruction of the outflow of fluid in the eye. If glaucoma is not treated, this condition can damage the optic disc[?] of the retina and impair vision (sometimes progressing to blindness). Usual symptoms include pain, and can be slow or fast acting. If it is the latter immediate medical treatment is advised. People with family history of glaucoma should be screened for the disease.
Diabetics are prone to glaucoma.
