Short for 'Former Soviet Union', that is, the following countries:

• Russia
• Estonia
• Latvia
• Lithuania
• Belarus
• Ukraine
• Moldova
• Georgia
• Armenia
• Azerbaijan
• Kazakhstan
• Kyrgyzstan
• Uzbekistan
• Turkmenistan
• Tajikistan

These countries (except Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) now form CIS, the Commonwealth of Independent States.
