False Impression is a rock band from
Tampa, Florida. They formed when college friends Matt Boonstra, Kevin Albrecht, and Eric Gardner decided they needed something creative to do in their spare time. After auditioning drummers and singers, Jarred Blackmer and Angela Infante joined the band on drums and vocals, respectively. The band began gigging in the local independent music scene during the summer of
2002. Initially described as a "folk-rock band with a campy edge and hip-hop elements," False Impression strived to avoid being pigeonholed in a specific genre.
After the departure of lead guitarist Matt Boonstra in January of 2003, the band began actively looking for a replacement, eventually choosing Sean Hayes. The band began writing new material in April 2003.
