EEPROM

An EEPROM or electrically-erasable programmable read-only memory is a computer memory chip that retains its data when power is removed. It can be programmed, erased and reprogrammed electrically. There is a limit to how many times an EEPROM may be erased and reprogrammed, perhaps 100,000 to 1,000,000 times. It may be read an unlimited number of times.

Compare EEPROM with EPROM, or erasable programmable read-only memory.

Flash memory is a later form of EEPROM.
