Darkness on the Edge of Town is a
heartland rock[?] album by
Bruce Springsteen, released on
June 2,
1978 (see
1978 in music). Recovering from legal troubles and the stress of the breakthrough success of
Born To Run, Springsteen released a defiantly anti-commercial album,
Darkness on the Edge of Town. Sales were not as high as the blockbuster peaks of
Born to Run, but the album did better than was expected.
