Constantin Costa-Gavras

Constantin Costa-Gavras (often simply Costa-Gavras) (born February 12, 1933) is a film director of international repute. He is best known for making politically left-leaning dramas such as Z. He has made movies mostly in French but also in English.

In 2002 he sparked controversy by making the film Amen[?], which alleges that Pope Pius XII was aware of the plight of the Jews in Nazi concentration camps during World War II, several years after the issue was widely considered to be settled in favor of the Pope's innocence.
