Ceredo is a city located in Wayne County, West Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,675.

Geography

Ceredo is located at 38°23'36" North, 82°33'37" West (38.393406, -82.560246)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²). 3.5 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 33.66% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,675 people, 821 households, and 466 families residing in the city. The population density is 482.6/km² (1,246.5/mi²). There are 888 housing units at an average density of 255.9/km² (660.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.73% White, 0.00% African American, 0.06% Native American, 0.78% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. 0.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 821 households out of which 19.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.8% are married couples living together, 10.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.2% are non-families. 41.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 23.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.01 and the average family size is 2.69.

In the city the population is spread out with 17.9% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 25.6% from 45 to 64, and 26.1% who are 65 years of age or older.
