Buckinghamshire (abreviated Bucks) is a county of south central England. Area: 1883 sq km (727 sq miles). County town: Aylesbury. Population: 590,000. It borders onto Oxfordshire; Northamptonshire; the unitary authority of Milton Keynes; Bedfordshire; the unitary authority of Luton; Hertfordshire; and the unitary authorities of Windsor and Maidenhead[?] and of Slough.

It is an agricultural county, covering part of the Chiltern Hills[?] to the South and the Vale of Aylesbury[?] to north. It has fertile agricultural lands, with many landed estates, especially that of the de Rothschild[?] family in the 19th century. Industry: Agricultural, furniture, pharmaceuticals, service and distribution industries. There are some residential commuter areas for London in the south.
