Breaks/Chemical

This is the type of electronic music characterized by the work of the Chemical Brothers (formerly the Dust Brothers), Prodigy and Mr. Ozio. It combines elements of hip hop, rock n roll and acid house.

The beats are typically the main element of a breaks song, punctuated by acidic synthesizer lines, and often accompanied by punkish vocals.

This type of music is usually intended for dancing, and is at the same tempo as house music. The breaks sound has inspired Breaks House, which is basically house with breakbeats instead of four-on-the-floor beats.
