Arum family
Araceae (not to be confused with
Arecaceae) is a family of
monocots in which the flowers are borne on a spadix, with female flowers at the bottom and male flowers at the top, enclosed in a spathe. It includes the
calla[?] and the largest flower in the world,
Amorphophallus titanum. The
taro (
Colocasia esculenta) is also in this family.
