Antiochus IV Epiphanes (

163 BC), son of
Antiochus III the Great and brother of
Seleucus IV Philopator. Notable events in his reign were the near-conquest of Egypt, halted by the threat of Roman intervention, and a massive Jewish revolt. He was succeeded by his son,
Antiochus V Eupator.
