Amenhotep III

Amenhotep III was an Egyptian pharaoh of the XVIIIth dynasty. According to different authors he ruled ca. 1413-1377 BC, 1405-1367 BC, 1386-1349 BC. He was the father and predecessor of Akhnaten.

During his period Egypt was famous for the artistic splendour this king made know. He made build several monuments, especially in Thebes, where his funerary temple is located, as well as sanctuaries and statues.

His name means "Amon is happy".
