This is a list of people who have announced themselves to perhaps do
some work for UU:

Welcome to planning of the Usenet University!

At first, this newsgroup (alt.uu.future) will be a group for the
planning of the Usenet University, a society of people interested in
learning, teaching, tutoring - and doing other things done in
universities - via Usenet. First things to discuss will be what kinds
of newsgroups will be created.

I hereby volunteer to put some effort into getting some learning
material prepared for publication in Usenet University.

I have some course materials used to teach a class on Emacs Lisp.
(They are in Swedish, but elisp is elisp, and it should be a good
start). If anyone is organizing an emacs lisp study group / course
I'd be happy to pass them along.

As an aside, I have archived all of the articles coming through this group,
including the "nonapplicable" ones (I quote "nonapplicable", as such posts are
good evidence that an "open group" mechanism is an inappropriate venue for
the distribution of course materials, and are thus "applicable"). This does
not in any way imply that I am volunteering to run an archive site for this
group (at least not until I have several machines freed up), but does serve to
support my claim of a large number of posts that what you have seen.

MOTION Course on Russian, in English, with Esperanto mentions.

I put forward the motion that we should seek to create a course
on learning Russian, for beginners, with the instruction being
in English.

The course will use Esperanto, with its regularity and logical
structure as an aid by comparing and contrasting it with Russian, which
like many (all?) natural languages has irregularities.
This course should appeal to people who have found that the
learning of Esperanto, even but a little Esperanto, has increased
their knowledge of how grammatical structures work in a language.

[ .. ]

Also, if you would like to help create the course, or would like
to take the completed course, please say so.

I am willing to participate in creating this course.

Outstanding idea! Count me in. As student, teacher, tutor....
(you know, we might need a few new concepts.)

AND student lists. I wish to enroll today.

There's this odd little project developing over on alt.uu.future...
the idea is to try and organize a "Usenet University", a way of
   taking courses over the net.

There's been a little bit of discussion about the possibility of
doing something like a course in Elisp. Anyone out there have an
interest in trying to teach it? Have anything that might be useful
as course materials? Any desire to take such a course?

Sounds like you want a form a newsgroup. You start out with your
charter, and you establish that students are encouraged to tutor later
newcomers. Basically, gnu.emacs.lisp.help, with a decent charter.

I know I'd throw in some of my time for this, occasionally...

But most intriguingly, one person has actually volunteered

a .announce group would be useful.

i am collecting (slowly and intermittently) packets of course materials
that might be suitable for a 6 week (or so ) on line course. the hope
is to end up with collections useful for self-instruction as well
as for a moderately organized group study.
