FUNET - The Finnish University and Research Network

The service includes access to the high-performance backbone network with its excellent connections to the rest of the Internet, both in Finland and abroad.

FUNET's network technology group staff helps member organisations install and maintain network connections, and operate routers, switches and other building blocks of the backbone.

The network information services group provides services like mail delivery, newsfeeds, file servers and chat relay. Many new services are under evaluation or in development. These include multimedia tools, videoconferencing, directory services, and a search engine for information hunting in various databases.
