In 1827, the botanist Robert Brown observed under microscope that pollen grains suspended in fluid move in a zigzag path, a phenomenon now widely known as Brownian motion.

The Forget-me-not plant produces the smallest pollen grain, which has a radius of only 3 micrometers.
