If you want to learn more about internet safety for kids, you can go to any of the resources below.
General Resources
- OnGuardOnline.gov: This is a site created by the Federal Trade Commission. It has information for parents as well as games and videos for kids and teens.
- NetSmartz.org: This site was created by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. It has videos that are geared towards different age ranges, and also videos and information for parents.
- WiredSafety: WiredSafety has lots of information about online safety that parents and educators can use.
- Family Online Safety Institute: This website has a printable Family Online Safety Contract, as well as other tips and resources for parents.
- A Platform for Good: This is a site created by the Family Online Safety Institute that includes information for parents, teachers, and teens.
- Microsoft Safety & Security Center: Here you can find internet safety guidelines for children of different age ranges. These guidelines were created by The American Academy of Pediatricians along with Microsoft.
Who to Contact if Your Child is in Danger
- Local Police: If your child is in immediate danger, you should call 911. Otherwise, you can call your local police's non-emergency number to report a problem.
- CyberTipline: You can go to www.cybertipline.com or call 1-800-843-5678 to report crimes against children, including online enticement of children for sexual acts, obscene material sent to a child, and child pornography.
Cyberbullying
- BrainPOP: BrainPOP has videos and activities about cyberbullying and many other subjects.
- Stopcyberbullying.org: Created by the people at WiredSafety.org, this site has information geared towards different age ranges, from ages 7 to 17.
- Cyberbully411.org: This site has resources for kids and teens, including strategies for talking to parents about cyberbullying.
- Common Sense Media: Here you can find detailed advice for working with kids ages 2 to 17.
- KidsHealth: This is a good article that gives an overview of cyberbullying.
- It Gets Better Project: This site was created in response to the suicides of teens who were bullied for being gay. It contains over 22,000 videos, including many that were submitted by celebrities.

- YouAreHere: This is a "virtual mall" created by the Federal Trade Commission that includes many online safety activities for kids and teens.
- OnGuardOnline.gov: Here you can find games and videos for kids and teens.
- NetSmartz.org: This site was created by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. It has videos that are geared towards different age ranges. You can also view many of these videos on NetSmartzKids or NSTeens (shown below).
- NetSmartzKids: Here you can find internet safety games for children ages 5-10.
- NSTeens: This is a NetSmartz site that is geared towards tweens and teens from ages 8-17.
